Leak Detection

Leak Detection

If your vehicle is found to have a leak in the Air Conditioning system, we can locate the leak using various test methods:

The approved method of leak detection is using compressed oxygen free nitrogen (OFN),

(As OFN is harmless if released into the environment)

The system is pressurised using the OFN to a pressure of around 8 bar

We then start by using a leak detection spray to check for leaks around components.

If ultraviolet dye is present in the system a U.V. lamp can be used to detect traces of the dye from any leaks

If no leaks are found, we move on to an ultrasonic probe which detects the high pitch disruption to the environment around a leak.

We can also use a combustible gas detection probe to double check for possible leaks after an Air Conditioning service
